I own a toyota hilux surf 3.0 ltr and it gives off a crackling sound on full lock what could it be?

clean a little grease on the steering stops when you change your oil and you will not hear this anymore.

Sounds like the CV Constant velocity joint is worn out . it's an MOT failure and should be replaced soon. it's quite expensive to fix but if you pick up one of those free car papers in petrol stations there are usually some garages that do these at lower cost .For example I used to own a Peugeot 405 and a substitute CV joint was £35 per side four years ago Hope this helps

Cv joints click when they're dry?look and see that the drive shaft boots are not burst?Also check the oil in the move box,hope this helps,

It most likely the lock stops on the lower arms and hubs rubbing together as they are intended to do. A big dollop of grease usually cures the sound.

put some grease on the stops that should do it, and congrats on owning a surf, I got one to, can not beat them
