I have a Nissan Almera GTi which I lowered, biggest mistake I ever made. I now can not go over speed bumps, drive entrances are a problem etc.
If you do go ahead do be sure that you get the car tracked. When mine was done I expected the fitters did it. They did not, cost me two new tyres.
Google it. loads of hits.

Howzit.
Bru im from South Africa but can obviously tell you that if you gonna reduce the Polo GTi, you better choose springs like Eibach, H&R, Koni, Bilstein and attempt not to go with cheap ones. don't forget when you lower your car you have to also not only change the springs but the shocks also cos you don't want to install lowered springs and have the normal regular shocks cos that will just be causing the car to bounce and have a lot of play vertically. Lowering also involves the installing of shortening shocks. Lowered springs + shortened shocks = great ride and handling. Trust me.
Try to find dealers in your country who sell the above mentioned brands and trust me man, by installing a top brand, you won't agreement your life when it comes to safety.
