I mean this may be an hard answer if I had not already recognized that the R8 by Audi is the same thing as the Volkswagen Phaeton. But it never sold well it used to be the Passat W8 also. So yeah ummmm next question about what Volkswagen is an Audi.

Okay, smart man, what model Volkswagen is badged up to make the R8? What model Volkswagen is badged up to make the TT Roadster?
Come on, we wait for the info with bated breath.
Edit Aug 25/07
EOS wheelbase 101.5 in, TT 95.6
EOS length 173.6 in, TT 164.5
EOS width 70.5 in, TT 72.5
EOS height 56.8 in, TT 53.5
TT available AWD also, so the EOS, is in general bigger, TTis a little wider, how did the badges do that?
Sorry, close, but no cigar
Plus the TT is available FWD or AWD.
Phaeton is a full size sedan, the R8 is a two door sports car.

It's just a matter of taste.
It is a good thing that people have different likes and dislikes, otherwise this world could be a pretty boring place.

If you are driving an Audi, how did you get into the Volkswagen? Is this a trick question? What is badged up? Is it farther to Dallas or with bus? what is the difference between a duck?

The same way Lexus holders rationalize their buy over a Toyota, or Infiniti over Nissan, Buick & Cadillac over Pontiac & Chevy, Acura over Honda . etc etc.
Yea, there is certainly some platform sharing, but the extra cost is both in the branding also as extra amenities.

You are obviously implying that the Audi is 'just' a VW with a different badge. that is a pretty ignorant way to look at things. it looks more like you're just an Internet troll wanting to provoke people with your silly statements.
As you know many of the car manufacturers in America have a premium brand. it is just how cars are sold here. So it is just a question of deciding if the extra money justifies the differences. Most of the premium brands share platforms, but that is about where the similarity ends.
If you really believe that the Audi is just a VW with a different badge, you're simply ill informed.

I could never purchase either. that is funny about the R8/Phaeton. Who is going to purchase a $70,000 Volkswagen? What were they thinking?
Audi and VW are both crap.
1 Ugly
2 Unreliable
3 Overpriced
I have a friend that has a 2003 VW Golf with 54,000 miles on it and it runs like it has 250,000 miles on it.

um the R8 has the 4.2L v8 found in the RS4, not the W12 from the phaeton which is an great car .
Also, have you ever driven a vw? they are nice little cars that handle well and are constructed like tanks.
finally, nearly every big car company has it is regular brand and it is luxury brand i.e. nissan and infinity, honda and acura, toyota and lexus.

Because it is true you can not rationalize spending 70,000 on a phateton but for a Audi A8 you may be able to. Same care same power same everything.

Volkswagen Eos=Audi TT=Porsche Boxter. From what I keep in mind the Boxster came out 1st. TT came second, then Eos. I guess with your line of thinking the Volkswagens are rebadged Porsches and so are Audis.
????Right?
