if its a 4.3 you are taking out all the 350 accesories will work ie radiator a/c all the good stuff...u will need motor mounts exhaust and a higher flowing fuel pump

You have to be sure the motor mounts will work and also remember that the radiators were different for the two motors.

You may have to exchange the complete engine harness also. Exhaust will probally be different also. The fuel lines at the back of the engine that connect to the throttle body may be different also. it is not a hard exchange. The best advice I have is to go to the wrecking yard and get anything you think you may need.

Q: Does it pay to exchange my four or six cylinder engine for an eight cylinder?
A: 1st of all, you must choose if you're going to keep the computer system. it is a bigger annoyance if you do. Your best bet is to go to a junkyard or find someone who is parting out a V8 Camaro/Firebird, and pull as many parts as possible off the same car. you'll need brackets i.e. alternator, AC, smog pump, and power steering pump save the bolts too, AC hoses, and Pulleys. you'll also need new rubber motor mounts about $20 at local parts store and the engine side brackets that these mounts screw to. be sure you get the engine side motor mount brackets from a Camaro or Firebird as they're a little shallower and are required to get the engine to sit low enough in the bay. The holes for the motor mounts are already in your crossmember. you'll also have to get the engine fan and fan shroud junkyard or new your choice, and you will have to purchase a starter, water pump, and most likely a power steering pump get thses from a junkyard as they are nearly generally still good . you will need a V8 HEI distributor. An ACCEL rebuilt HEI works great and costs less than $150.00. And of course plugs and wires. presuming an auto tranny, you'll need a new tranny since the bellhousing screw pattern is different on the V8 car from the four and six cylinders. A Turbo 350 will screw right in with B&M's $75.00 conversion kit. It just allows you to hook up the torque arm, but you will lose overdrive. Take a polaroid camera to the junkyard, and you may want to be able to figure all this stuff out., you'll most likely have to change the front coil springs. I know this sounds like a ton of work particularly since it does not include what you must purchase to assemble the engine, however this exchange is really a part of cake everything drops in like it has been supposed to be there. At the least, assemble all the parts you will need build the motor on an engine stand over some months with all accessories and brackets, and have someone drop it in for you. A shop could charge you an arm and a leg if they had to scrounge all this stuff up themselves.
