Increasing HP and Torque? 07 Acura TL? |
|
I thinked about trading in my car b/c of the lack in torque, but my friend suggested a supercharger. Is this a sure bet to increase HP and torque WITHOUT breaking the car? as well, I do not want my car looking like some ride from the "Fast and Furious" movie, just the performance without sound. Is this impossible? Any advice could be appreciated.

Just trade it.
Here's what happens if you up the HP:
1 Your car is not going to manage the power well. The chassis, suspension, brakes, steering, and transmission was only intended to manage so much. It isn't going to work also unless you upgrade lots of stuff. This will cost you money that you'll never get back.
2 By making these mods you're going to invalidate any warranty you may have on your car. This will include what I call an implied warranty. after your official warranty is up, there's some responsibility or liability that a car company has. if you car bursts into flames as an example, you may be able to sue. But if you have changed the car, they'll most likely not have any liability.
3 Your insurance will be void. So you either have to admit to them that you upgraded the car, and get a boy racer costly policy, or you'll have to not tell them, and hope they never learn. If they do it could be reason not to pay a assert.
4 Depreciation. The market is suspicious of self changed cars. They aren't going to trust the quality of your work. This will be reflected in the resale value of your car.
So they are the reasons I'm not a fan of modifying a car. If you want to have more HP and torque, get a real sports sedan like a BMW 335i. A BMW versus an Acura is like night and day.

There is a company called "Comptech" that makes a supercharger kit for your car. it is a little costly at about five great. it'll give you another 60HP or so.
Anything you do to increase the power output of an engine has the possible to cut down it is lifespan. Provided you do not abuse it and you change the oil and other fluids when you're supposed to it should be OK.

If your TL is an auto, be cautious about what you do to increase HP and torque as you may be able to blow the transmission.

dude you bought a TL for a reason luxury sedan, comptech is good but went out of business so you have to more quicky with the buy of the Supercharger. On that note if its not maunal get rid of it. Or get the Type S, turbo is a good path, but you need the ecu to have a program chip and burn max psi seven 8psi to be safe on tune and bigger injectors

lol @ the fast and the mad movie..
Yes there's a way.
Supercharger could add loads of torque and hp.. also I could attempt a cold air intake and headers and exhaust and attempt to find a calm exhaust like the tanabe racing technology exhaust system it is supposed to be one of the quiest exhaust on the market.
Exhaust are not just for sound as some people think.. they're for best exhaust flow and the better the exhaust flow the less air gets wasted due to restrictive exhaust that are on cars.. less used air gets into the combustion chamber that can not be used = less power.

you don't want too much torque in a front drive car youll get negative handeling trates you really have to ballance power and handeling when you're dealing with a front drive car. if you want to have more torque and power you're better off trading for a rear or all wheal drive car, then tuning that or purchase a car that has laready got the power you want. Be carfull about loosing your warrenty on a newer car. I could trade it in for a bmw M3,M5 M6 or Audi S4, RS4 S6 or RS6 based on your financial position. A used RS6 may be a great value or if you want a stick a S4 that you could tune.

Not sure why you'd like more torque than what the Type S delivers.I drive an '06 AT 3.2 engine, and it is got lots of torque for all reasonable reasons.
COMPTECH is back in business, but, they don't make a supercharger for the 3.5L motor still.probably will but it may be a while. Forced induction on the J series motors will cut down their life.also risk to the AT transmission as mentioned before.
The only way to carefully get more torque is to drive a big displacement V8 or a supercharged, or turbocharged car engineered as a stock feature from the factory.
Personally, too much torque is as bad as not enough. I has been raised in the 60's with big displacement V8s that were forever lurching off the line. Honda Acura has done a great job at engineering drivable cars that have a measure of spirited vim & vigor to them also.

You can run a TURBO INSTEAD OF THE SUPERCHARGER
THE TURBO does not have to FEED OFF OF THE ENGINES PULLEY AND it'll KICK AZZ WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS.
it will assist you get better gas mileage and performance is more tunable. VOLVO was using them for ever and AUDI, SAAB too
check out turbonetics.com and see some of the alternatives there
your car will need light mods to get the best performance like
T4 T6 turbo kit $1.500 3.000k shop around
ECU piggyback system $350.00
turbo increase controller $150.00
cat back exhaust system $300.000
UNDER vvv
$5.000
