Installing a locking hub on a 2000 Ford F250? |
|
The locking hub is missing now and I have to replace it. Do I have to take off the complete hub to replace it or can it be put on without removing the wheel, caliper and rotor? This specific locking hub doesn't have any screws or bolts on it. it's just a black handle. Thanks

There is a big spring clip on the outside of the hub sandwiched between the hub and the rotor

You don't have to remove the wheel But you have to remove the center cap if equipped. Use a needle nose pliers and squeeze two tabs together that point towards you when looking at it. Then pull external on two tabs and you'll have the big snap ring in your hand. Then you have to pull and pry on hub till it slides out on occasion stuck in there pretty good . Slide in new hub and push in snap ring till snaps into place.
