Integra Type R Rear Bumper Q. Experts gather.? |
|
O.K. I cruised in my Civic with the rest of the tuner scene, when out of the corner of my eye I saw the headlights of a JDM specification DC2 Integra Type R clone . It was left hand drive, so I know it was not a true JDM ITR. But it had the JDM front end conversion, correct wheels, spoiler, etc.etc. But as I slowed down to get beside it, I noticed something different about the rear end lights. with the standard rear lights, the rear bumper had a single offshoot rectangle shaped red running light under the left taillight. There was not another lens on the right side of the bumper, or not a spot for a lens. Now, I know that some JDM specification cars have a white back up lens on occasion in the bumper and a red lens on the other side, like the R34 Skyline for example. But this ITR had just a single red offshoot lens. Can anybody tell me if he had just not finished put a second light in, or if it is a distinctive JDM ITR trait that he replica'd? Because if it is JDM, I want in on it.

Excellent Feedback guys. thanks so much. Now, another question.I'm interested in having this on my car.was it available on an EG JDM civic? Could I find an OEM JDM or EDM rear bumper with this choice, or could I have to improvise to put one in?

that's a rear fog light. there's only supposed to be one installed on the LH side on a Honda, though some German cars can use two usually integrated into the taillights.
It is activated with the rear fog light switch which is integrated into the front fog light switch on the center console for EU specification and JDM specification cars. US specification cars use one big single button for the fog lights in the Integra. A rear fog light is needed in some European countries and was available as an choice in Japan.
The function of a rear fog light is to make your car more observable at night or throughout inclement weather to approaching cars.
If you want to see one in action, find a Mercedes Benz or Audi and pull the headlight switch out two notches.

HE most likely did not PUT THE SECOND LIGHT IN, SO PEOPLE would not NOTICE THE DIFFERENTS.
