Is Premium Fuel really needed in a new Lexus? Putting standard 87 octane can not hurt it that much, right?

Manual states premium only and if not prem the engine will start knocking. I can not imagine it matters that much, particularly if I follow the other reccomended mait.

it's really have to get the hp and gas mileage meant for the car, it'll not hurt the car, but it'll effect the performance. Your car will run more efficiantly if you use the Premium gasoline If you have any questions, call 255lexus

I work for Lexus and talked to employees in sales and service, none of them have ever heard of your warranty being voided by not using the meant gasoline.

Check the holders manual for the reccomended fuel. These days most cars are made to run best on 87

If you have a turbo charged engine you really have to use premium gas. I know it sucks, I have to use premium in my car also. Every once in awhile I cheat and put the cheap stuff in, but not frequently.

If the car calls for PREMIUM FUEL and you run regular 87 octane fuel the least that will happen is the car won't be as responsive as it could be with the correct fuel,THE WORST CASE SCENARIO IS THE MOTOR that's intended FOR PREMIUM FUEL WILL START EATING ITSELF ALIVE.The make intended the engine with higher compression and a hotter than stock valvetrain and camshaft that will make more power so they obliged premium fuel. If you run regular 87 octane fuel and the motor fails the dealer can and most likely will refuse to honor your warranty.

To cheap on out gas in a Lexus will result in a gummed up engine...broken, cracked or worn lifters and springs and because other interior engine damage.
To save some pennies per gallon will result in big future engine work.
One lady drove her ES300 for not one year using only 87 octance. It destroyed the engine so much a new engine had to be ordered for substitute.
Plus to not use premium fuel will void your warranty.
The car is intended to take premium fuel ONLY.

if its a high combustion engine, then you may want to do premium, plus its only like two dollars costly to fill up with premium. it'll keep your fuel lines cleaner longer and it lasts longer than 51 Octane haha. Also your car will run a lot smoother. It depends on how much you like your car also.
