January1996 Jetta 2.0 GL Is there a OBD2 connector?

Postby Lapaza » Tue Nov 03, 2009 1:15 am

I found the computer haven't looked at it still. Can I use a OBD2 Scanner for my Jetta that works for ford, chevy etc? If it OBD2 should they all be the same? How can I pull the codes, the check engine light is on. Thanks

Look for a plastic cover on the dash near the ash tray with a picture of the engine. Your OBD2 connector will be located underneath that cover.

Yes there's a connector for your computer it's under the radio,to the right or left of the rear defroster button I have seen it on both sides. It should have a engine symbol on the plastic cover but at the cars age it isn't unusual to be worn off. The plastic cover is about 2"x1 1/2" in diameter. Also your scan tool should work. If you have problems downloading code or can',t get cover off take the car to auto zone, advanced auto etc they'll download the codes free of charge.
