I have found a 2000 Jeep great Cherokee for about $4,000. It doesnt need any work, has sunroof, premium audio package, leather, the only problem is that it has 140,000 miles on it. in jeep holders out there who could give some input, that could be great. thanks.

There are a couple things to think about here. $4000 is about average for that year and mileage. Jeep drivetrains can handle lots of mileage if taken care of. but, because it is a Jeep you'll quickly realize that the rest of it'll fall separately around you. I still own a Cherokee and know many people that do also. In all my jeeping years I have never recognized one that ran flawlessly and if someone says it does run flawlessly then they have never driven a dependable car.

If you really want a jeep then this is not a bad deal at all. If usually highway miles that engine will be in much better form than a alike jeep with half that in the city. but, if you just want a daily driver and want the versatility of an SUV.look at different businesses. If you think Jeeps are reliable you may want to take a fast trip to the local junk yard and see how many junked jeeps there are and think again.

that is lots of miles for that old of a car. Well it said that every year you may want to only put at max 15,000 miles on a car. this car has 35,000 miles over. If he used it on the highway lots then I say it's a little better, but I think you could get the price dropped.

TOO MUCH MILEAGE. UNLESS YOU KNOW THE OWNER. IF YOU GET IT FOR LESS MONEY THEN purchase IT. I MEAN LIKE 2000 DOLLARS LESS. AT THIS MILEAGE THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE PARTS AND FRONT END PARTS START TO SHOW SIGNS OF WEAR AND TEAR. CHECK OUT THE four WHEEL DRIVE TOO. TIRES AND CONDITION OF THE car. THERE ARE lots of 2000 JEEPS OUT THERE FOR LESS MONEY AND LOWER MILEAGE. CHECK IT OUT ON CRAIGSLIST.COM AND GO TO YOUR STATE AND CITY.

There's different angles to think about. Someone put on about 20,000 miles a year. Can you see the service records? It should show NO LESS than four oils changes per year. If they had it serviced at least by every 5000 miles. Hopefully it was highway miles. In seven years, it should of had at least 27 oil changes. Then move on to tranny servicing. Sounds like it has good possible.

I think you could do much better with 4000$. The cost of ownership on that car, particularly used, will be quite high. if it does not NEED any work now, with that kind of mileage it most likely could USE some maintenance, and will NEED some soon and quite on a regular basis after that.

127,000 on our '99. Have only had tie rod ends replaced about $100. Engine and transmission are in great form, some minor leaks here and there from the drivetrain move case and front diff. The rear differential was rebuilt years ago under warranty. Brake rotor issues till we replaced the factory parts with aftermarket. in general, it was a good car.

I think that's a just price for that many miles.Jeeps are typically good trucks and can run for a long time. Before having any big problems.I have a 88 cherokee with 300,000 miles on it that runs excellent. And all we have ever done is normal up keep.Oil changes, tune ups, ect,.
