Lexus es 350, has anybody else noticed that it's a pretty mo |

Lexus es 350, has anybody else noticed that it's a pretty more noisy than other Lexus's??
I just got a new es 350 three months ago and the drive is a lot louder and harder than my last es 300's. I showed it to the service manager and he said it was ok due to bigger engine. when you look under the hood lexus has done a extraordinary job at streamlining the air flow, so why more sound. Also when he's blaming this on the bigger engine, then the 400 and 450 should be louder right ?? anybody with any real experience who can help??

I hate to break it to you Mike, but I used to own an ES 400. The problem is that Japanese cars, to the opposite of liked belief, are not as high quality as American cars. that is why I changed over to the Cadillac STS. Great car. I recommend Cadillac over every luxury auto maker.

yes I have, ,its caused by the lack of insulation that it do not have,,they did not build them also as they may have,,i noticed the cab area is really noisy,,and the radio has to go louder to drown out the road sound,,this is the Way all of them are although,,,,and it isn't the bigger engine like they said,,its a lack of quality there starting to make them a little cheaper than the older ones,,i mechanic for a living,,and thought I could purchase a nice calm car to drive,,well I traded mine in,,now have a new dodge,,and love it,,good luck,,you,ll have to get used to the sound,,or trade it,,i decide to trade,,hope this help,s.

First off, to the caddy man. I hope you enjoy you are ride in a couple years when it starts pouring out oil. I refuse to purchase a cadillac for the fact that they leak like a mother. Second I do not think they made an ES 400. there's a GS 400.
Now to the question at hand. U r driving a luxury car which should be quieter than most cars. This isn't a perfect world although, we're only human. The ES is the low end car at Lexus. that's prob why in such cars as the GS 400 & 450H, SC430 and LS430 it sounds quieter, the cars cost more. I am pretty sure you are Es350 is quieter than most other cars. you are just used to driving in a luxury car. The ES is a nice car, with great features. It also moves pretty well.

Lexus and Toyota share models at times. The ES line started out as the ES250 but nothed more than a dressed up Toyota Camry. Then Lexus made own ES300. As the model changed over the yeras some variants have been nothing more than a dressed up Camry. The current model is just that, a Camry.
Well a Camry is no Lexus. It lacks the extra sound protection, the extra asphalt level in the under cart to reflect sound, has lower grade tires, has all season tires over winter/summer sets all season will be produce more road sound over a chosen summer set . The list can go on.
The bigger engine can create more sound but you hear this in the cabin caused by less sound protection. Sad when a Ford F150 can stop more engine sound than a Lexus ES350. Ford solved this by simily filling the cavities with expanding bubble.
Hate to say it but you DID own a Lexus..now you own a shined up Camry.
