Lexus rx 300 suv.. and dodge ram 1500 crew cab.. are they worth the $$$$??
based upon the following information, do you think this is a real good good just purchase.
it is a 1999 lexus rx 300 4wd suv with 159,000 miles for $10,000.00.
it has a moonroof, leather inter, in great form from what I'm told, clean in and out, good set of tires, front and side air bags, completely loaded and all that good stuff & with a good paint job.
is lexus GOOD for 159,000 +++++ miles??
also, does 22 mpg hwy & 19 mpg city sound good?? or should it be better??
and on the dodge it is a 2002 dodge ram 1500 4wd crew cab four door.
it is 15,000.00 with 79,000 miles. seems brand new with all the extra plus tow pkg and aluminum tool box on the back.
do you think 15,000.00 is a great deal depending on the info?
any extra information could help on both..

LEXUS IS A SOFT SUV"
DODGE PU IS a STRONGER car here.
and has the most flexibility too. PICKUPs can actualy get better gas mileage than full size or mid size SUVs. Because it's half the body weight 90% of the driving time or unlit you carry a load in it.
The truck could be the SMARTER purchase over the LEXUS about the mileage and year. Al thou the LEXUS is a Japanese car. When it Comes to the American Pick UPS they last just as long or longer than imports.
The LEXUS has 159.000 miles on it. So think they last about 200.000 mile so your prepared to give up $10K for a car that could need big service in about 42.000 more miles.
YEA this is a RIP OFF $10K can get you in a newer year LEXUS with lower miles if that is what you want.
2ND
The Dodge has lower miles and is a newer car but to make sure check the SERVICE records or that it was well maintenance. that is applies to both Vehicles.
Things like the Water pump, brakes, alternator, battery, fan belts, hoses, vaccum lines, tuneups, ect..
I could look at the Lexus and think about what I am going to use it for, like more work and play or around town style and to get the Oohs from friends while having a little flex capability.
The truck will be easier to resell over the Lexus if needed. I find it harder to sell an import with high mileage they're in demand because of gas prices and maintains tuneups
but think when you pull up to the gas station the people aren't going to cut the price in half just because your driving a V6 import or a 4cylinder. We all pay the same.

Lexus is just an costly Toyota. 159,000 miles? do not annoy wasting your money.
2002 Dodge . 79,000 miles is just broke in, as long as it has a V 8. If it has a V six walk away, it is about to die on ya.
4WD, crew cab, it should have at least a V 8, it's possibly a diesel, in which case 79,000 miles is nothing. $15,000 is a great price.

The Lexus is a great deal. If you do not take it, I'll, You know what they say: 200,000 miles on a Lexus is like 100,000 on any other car. 159,000 is not close to the capability of Lexus engines. I have seen them go well beyond 275,000. Yeah, that is a great deal.
Dodges are nice.for a while. sooner or later repairs and maintenance will come back to bite you in the butt. purchasing a Dodge is like throwing money away. Plus, that is way too costly for it.

I'd purchase the Dodge if its got a V8. Its got half the miles so its going to last you lots longer. there's no way I pay $10k on something with 159k miles on it.
Fl1959 Its a 1/2 ton. No diesel.

I do not know much about the Dodge, but, as far as the Lexus RX 300, 159,000 miles is lots for a car despite of the manufacturing brand. Lexus is generally recognized for their exceptional quality and many will last far beyond 160k miles. For $10,000, it is on the higher class and I am sure you may be able to negotiate that price down. I could recommend having a Lexus dealer perform an inspection on the car to be sure all of the big parts are in good condition engine, transmission, transaxle, ect. . as well, ask for the service history of the car from the selling party. A car that has service history that follows the manufacturer's suggested intervals will usually be in much better condition as it gets older. Lexus recommends service every 5k miles. you may want to also check the carfax report to be sure the car wasn't involved in any accidents. This is one of the best quality vehicles made and Lexus continues to be in every vehicle magazine for their novelty and particularly their quality. I hope this helps.

Oh come on.. that's an overpriced Toyota Rav4 with a gold trim. Only a fool will fall for that. Now, when parts breaks, you'll see what I'm talking about. A steering pump for $1000 or a Dodge pump for $250. you'll have more fun with the Dodge and waste less money than that money pit Mercedes Benz Wannabe.
See if a Lexus is auction out like a good Chrysler or a Beemer or a Mercedes Benz. regardless how much bling they put still a Toyota Econo Box with gold trim.
You like the stile, get a Toyota not that. that's the rich people Toyota.
