Mercedes 2003 E220CDI Start problem? |
|
When I attempt to start engine I have to attempt it many times. I put the key to the hole, and I turned the key, however nothing happened. It gives me error like "ESP Defective", "SRS Defective". But after ten 15 attempt it works without any error.
I went to two different Mercedes sevice, one of them said "Your car computer damaged, have to change", the other one said "Key hole faulty, have to change".
If anybody know the solution or have same problems, I am waiting your answers.
Regards, srry 4my english

The error codes are erroneous codes that set because of a voltage drop in the system, these systems are sensitive to voltage drop problems.I could propose to get the electrical system checked especially the alternator and battery, tell who ever does the work to look at the battery cables and ground points to be sure they're free of corrosion and rust.
If this doesn't cure your problem the most evident because could be the ignition switch.

It may be either of these problems or a mix of both. I could start with the ignition switch 1st as it's the cheapest. If that doesn't work, then the computer. Most probably it's the ignition where the key goes in. If you're using a substitute key, get a new one made by Mercedes because the cheap duplicates made by other stores can really damage the ignition switch causing the problems you're having.

I agree with the Canadian Auto mech. Check all the wire connections 1st particularly the grounds as the costs are minimal. Then if no hard faults attempt the switch 1st. I generally go cheapest to most costly with intermittent faults.
