i just bought a used 2004 Saturn ION certified . I have had it for a month, and I just noticed my car does not have ABS or traction control as promised on the window of the car. I bought it from the Saturn dealership. How will they fix this problem? Can they install ABS and Traction Control? I really feel cheated and upset about this circumstance.

What firsrt tipped me off, was the simple fact that I do not have a traction control button it's supposed to be located under the air conditioning button. it is not there. Second, when you start the car the ABS is supposed to come on and so is the TC light. Neither come on.

Sorry, I meant the ABS "Light" does not come on when the car is started.

How do you know that it does not have these features. ABS will kick in when you slam on the brakes at a quick and traction control will kick in when you take a corner too fast. Have you ever placed the car in this situation? Your brakes could pulse when either of these safety features are activated and you could feel it through your brake pedal.

I have not heard of a post 2000 model year car of any maker not having ABS as a regular feature. It could be like Saturn not installing seat belts. If these systems do not work, it may be something simple like a blown fuse. you are covered under CPO so you may be able to take it in if it isn't working.

Edit:

I got the Edmund's web site to work. It was not working earlier when I wrote my original answer. It does say ABS and Traction Control is optional for your car.

I've heard a carfax report should tell you what features this car was equip with when it left the factory. These two parts are factory installations and I doubt that the dealer will be able to install them particularly on a used car to rectify a misprint on the sticker. More than probably, you may be able to argue for a refund on the two missing parts.

Good Luck

All alternatives are listed on the sticker, if there's a price beside the choice listed, you were charged for it, it is their problem on how to deal with it, yes they can install it, the cost could be prohibitory, so they should give you the dollar amount in refund or take the car back and let you pick another one with the alternatives.
