My 96 Explorer is Shaking? |
|
The other say I parked my truck in a sandy parking lot near the beach and it kind of fell into a pot hole. and I needed 4wd to get it back out. anywho I found the next day that the lower ball joint had become loose on the pass side. when I replaced the ball joing I found that the tie rod end was so worn that it felt like it had groves worn into it when I moved it. well after I replaced the ball joint I had a crazy shaking in the steering wheel anytime above 20mph. so I reaplced the tie rod end. now it is shaking up till 50mph, then it goes away till about 70mph. any idea what this could be?

Check the tie rod and ball joint on the other side they should all be replaced together. And also get all you tires balanced at you local tire shop. Poor complementary is common.

Ford trucks are notorious for front end problems and yours is twelve years old. Plan on replacing ball joints, tie rod ends, pitman arm and shimming the steering gear box and parking it on an alignment rack. Take a good look at your wheel bearings if you got into the sand.

1. Have tire balance checked they should also notice rim damage .
2. If ball joints and tire rod ends were worn on one side, it's possibly worn on the other. Have front end aligned.
