My Alpine CDA 9856 head unit automatically fast forwards thr

My Alpine CDA 9856 head unit automatically fast forwards through songs when I am playing through my iPod. Why?
I've tried to do everything I can think of: I have tried to rewind, but the fast forward function overtakes it, I have tried different functions, etc. Nothing looks to work. Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm running the iPod through the full speed adapter that connects to my head unit.because I have a head unit..

if you have not already tried. attempt unplugging the ipod cord from the back of the HU and plugging it back in. or maybe disconnect the post on the battery and reconnect it, see if it resets itself. honestly I don’t have idea what could make it do that.

if you are using a tape adaptor then you are most likely screwed. you may have to purchase an iTrip and use the radio instead.
