My Audi 80 sport (Old one) power steering goes when i drive

Postby Pikovit79 » Tue Nov 03, 2009 1:17 am

It happened some times now. I use to think it was because the car stalled but I don',t think the car stalls at all. anybody any ideas?

The power steering belt is old, you can be able to spray it with some belt treatment, or it may just need tightening.

What has electrics got to do with it? Nothing.

highly not likely unless you have taken off the undershield you may just feel the steering go light caused by loss of traction there aren't electric parts in the steering, advice avoid puddles and if you do hit a puddle don',t turn the steering wheel

The water is causing the PAS belt to slip and the steering pump then doesn't do its job .Have it replaced because it has most likely stretched a bit and isn't as "Grippy" as it may be.

It',s either a loose belt or the water',s going in to the electrics, I could think. I could take it to a mechanic to learn what it definetly is although.

Replace and change power steering belt, there aren't electrics to worry about that could because this fault, its just belt slip .

Good Luck .
