My ford explorer sounds like the Axis is going to break on the left side when I go over bumps?
what could possibly be the problem

1st, it is an axle an axis the line through the earth on which it spins. Second it's probably a crack. Get it checked out ASAP.

a bad bearing, loose spindle, or some problem in the steering mechanisms like tie rod or another part on the wheels or springs.
