My porsche boxster sort of squeaks and makes noises when driving gradually. Is it the convertible top?
It's not engine sound or anything, it sound likes it is the top maybe? the chassis or alignment sorry I am a girl I am not sure what I am saying I notice it if I'm slowing down to under 30 or 20 mph.

It's not noisy, but is it normal?
It's a 2002 but it looks wobbly and rattling like an older car in spite of my dealer saying it was inspected and is perfect. Or am I over reacting? thanks.

I do not think it's the top. It does not do it at all at high speeds or anything accelerating. Only around town driving or slowing down to stop and going under 25. It sounds like an old horse & cart you know really creaky.

I propose that you go to the website for the Porsche Club of America PCA and learn the regional club that is closest to you. See if you may be able to find an forthcoming event for that regional club and go there with your car. you'll find dozens of Porsche experts there who will be able to tell you exactly what is wrong with your car. they'll be able to tell you the best place to get it fixed which isn't generally a Porsche dealer.

From what you describe, it is a little hard to say what is making the sound. But an experienced Porsche person can tell you in 30 seconds with a test drive. See the link below for the PCA website.

What you may be able to do is take it a mechanic and have them lube the under cart and tell them to lube all of the rubber bushings and any thing else that is rubber iunder the car. as for the top attempt to find a good rubber treatment for convertable tops and that should do the trick.

1st, do not apologize for being a girl, not ALL guys know everything about cars. Seeing as it's a Porsche it shouldn't be making ANY sound except the engine purring.

Does this car see lots of city driving? If you can be hearing brake sound. Porsches have great Brembo brakes but the brake pads and rotors can and do on occasion squeal if you do not get them out on the highway and de glaze them once in a while. attempt doing three back to back zero 70 zero mph runs braking hard enough that the ABS kicks in. If you still hear a sound and you suspect it can be brake related have the dealer examine the calipers to see if one my be dragging a bit.

It could also be dash or panel fit. as the car drives it flexes and the different interior panels come in contact with one another or the major structure of the car and creak, squeak, etc. they are frequently frustrating to separate and track down. In some cases there aren't great solutions other than to purchase a bigger power amplifier for the car stereo or a B&B exhaust system for the Boxster. Good luck to you. ,

Have you lubed the doors? Had the same issue on my Boxster i.e. squeaking sounds at low speeds. Took it to the dealership and they identified it to the doors and lubed it. Been running calm since. Good luck.

Despite the fact that you got a boxter.. its cool I guess your a girl. Its a 2002 and should be porsche tight despite.. you problably need new bushings or somtimes common on boxters wheel bearings go bad. If you still think its the conv top attempt driving with it up or down if it makes the sound in bot positions then it not the top. take it to a local euro car shop.. wit your dad or b/f or hubby whomever so ya don't get ripped off..
Good luck

You aren't over reacting. you're alert and aware. Paying attention can save money afterward. At low speeds, there's a brake pad wear display which produces a higher pitch "squeaking" kind of sound when the pads are prepared to be changed. You won't hear it at faster speeds or when the car is stopped. If you know someone you may be able to trust, have them check the brake pads and seen if they have to be replaced. If the car is a 2002 and based on the mileage they made have to be replaced. all cars need the brake pads and or shoes replaced at some point.
