Need pros and cons on Mercedes C320 and BMW 528i?

Worked hard for the opportunity to own a car in the class you're looking into. Initial intention was to purchase a Mercedes. Test drove BM, Volvo, Audi, Jag and Merc. At the end it’s only personal taste. I enjoyed the Beemer`s cockpit layout as it`s shaped snug around the driver, the Merc was too open. had the opportunity to be the owner of seven BMW`s over the last five years, 3, 5, six and seven series My 2002 5series was the pick of the bunch.
BUT both vehicles being 2001 models must be at the end of their motor/ maintenance plans, and may get very costly to preserve if being bought for daily use. Price as an example the respective substitute brake pads, a substitute gear box, the exhaust systems. My advice to you, if you're still intention in purchasing such an "old" old being at the end of the motor/ maintenance plan luxury car, is to purchase what your heart tells you to purchase. Both are excellent vehicles in different ways, it's up to your taste and need.

i personally find bmw's more dependable and as far as the mercedes goes it is too most of a luxury car not practical.

Ive driven the C class mercedes and am not at all impressed. it's a lower end mercedes, doesnt handle ir speed up well and looks and is lots cheaper than the bmw. Go with the BMW, hands down, without a doubt.

Honestly you do not need a in depth comparison here. Go for the Mercedes. I drove for some time CLK270 auto, A200 auto, and a C220 manual. They all rock. dependable cars, powerful engines, comfy inside.

Need pros and cons on Mercedes C320 and BMW 528i?

The Benz needs a "major" at 50,000 if it starts leaking oil out the front major bearing. Some of the dealers want to charge you $75 for steam cleaning the motor before doing anything to the car. Otherwise, I'd have to admit it is just normal wear and tear.

I can only relate from general conversation about BMW and some of my buddies could it is rather high maintenance BUT they'd never drive anything else.

Sounds to me that you just want the prestige factor. I'd have to flip a coin on your choices. Me? 1971 450 SLC, painted it once.

Totally different cars.

The C class is entry level M B for the US, while the five series is the mid range BMW. Interior size will be a bit bigger for the 528.

M B uses a good 2.3L V6 engine while the BMW has an inline six cylinder 2.8L engine about as smooth running and bulletproof engine you'll ever find. The Benz may have a slight advantage with gas mileage, but I can not comment on its dependability.

The BMW handling is legendary, with a almost 50:50 front back weight percentage for good balance.

Other things to think about are the mechanical condition of both cars, maintenance records, mileage, and how long you plan to keep it. I could say the BMW could have a higher resale than a C class M B.

I could go with the BMW, but then I'm fractional.

Need pros and cons on Mercedes C320 and BMW 528i?

I have a 530i, the replacement to the 528i but the same body style. The 530 has been recognized by buyer Reports as, "the best car we have ever tested." At least as of 2003.
So I could lean towards the Bimmer but before anything, I could want to check Carfax and also see fix records done by the MB or BMW dealer. as well, take the car you like to a mechanic who can plug into the OBD2 port and get a diagnostic print out of the different mechanical systems. it is worth the money.
