No sound through car speakers?

took JVC KD G220 out of one car and put it in a 87 toyota celica and bought brand new punch speakers but no sound coming from speares when I put a cd in or from the radio.any help could be great

1st you have to pull the radio and hook the rear speaker outputs to the front speakers to see if there's any output. If there's check to see if the rear speakers are grounded out terminals touching metal . My suggestion could be if the radio is working properly to run new speaker wires to the rear speakers in case you have a bad wire

only reason I can think of for no sound could be that it has a factory amplifier for the speakers. in that case, you must wire the cd player straight to the speaker. but in a car that old that may not be the case
