NOx emission fix for Cutlass Ciera?

Postby Henri » Mon Oct 08, 2007 1:46 am

My 92 Olds Cutlass Ciera 3.1 L V6 fails NOx emission. Other emission test requirements are OK. Got new catalytic converter and muffler on. They didn't help. Any suggestion about part repairs or substitute to decrease NOx level? thanks.

Thanks to Archer Christifori for taking time to react to my question.
Here is some extra detail. some years back, O2 sensor has been replaced to pass other emission test requirements like, CO, etc. it looks EGR is a deive to control NOx emission for many car models. I searched online, also as going to AutoZone store to check out if my car model really has an EGR. The store didn't have it, Online websites haven't led me to any "correct" part for this model year. I'm presently under impression that Olds Cutlass Ciera 92, V6 3.1L doesn't have an EGR. Am I missing something here?

Also, I did attempt to replace MAF once. That did neither crack the problem .

Further ideas are certainly welcome. Thanks.

Thanks to Hugg2dz for the ideas. Tried some of those some years back. Want to find if there's any other efficient way.

The EGR system is what decreases NOx emmissions. you can also want to check the O2 sensor also.
