why do old people get in their cars at 8am and go to the supermarket? do they like traffic jams?

Because they like to get it over with before the mid morning rush. Leaves them the rest of the day to tut tut about the youth of today and how these youngsters would not lasted in their day.

Better than that, Why do they all come out and drive at 20 miles below the speed bound when I'm in a hurry and can not pass them because of heavy traffic coming the other way.

Cause they go to bed at 18.30hrs in the evening, so they're roaring to go in the am, or they just like to bother you, they do this on buses when they can not use public transport till 930hrs and they tell the the bus driver am I too early so I call them the twerles, most annoying.

A lot of old people work too. They gather grandchildren, take
them to school etc. How do you know the supermarket is their destination. they're as entitled to be on the road as you're .To avoid traffic jams, don't drive or get a job near to home so you may be able to walk,if it's possible .

Sorry to disagree, but I do not think they're going to the supermarket at that time, they typically leave that to the weekend so they can p ss off all the people who work throughout the week.

cause when you get to that age you do not have a lot to fill your life up with and if pissing off the younger generation is a way to make you feel good for a bit I say let them have it . when my time comes I am going to produce mayhem .

I think your missing the point a bit. OAP's may go out at 8Am, but by the time they opened the garage, got their partner to help them reverse the car out of the garage and snake all over the driveway at a painful 1mph..then ensuring that the driver is prepared for the open road prescription glasses, driving scarf, medication, hard boiled sweets and the car is setup the same as it was for the last 30yrs,its mint .
The driver using the aid of the OAP passenger will reverse out blindly although the passenger is walking out in the center of the road to be sure its clear and safe but most likely forgot thier prescription glasses as they are not driving today. into the center of the road, make a 18 point turn park perfectly by the kerb after all OAP's pride themselves on thier parallel parking ya kno. .This is about 10am and traffic is building up cuz they're blocking the road..
Finally the passenger will walk to the garage, close and lock the doors traffic rear back to get longer .Then will walk back to the car, carefully get in.The driver will start to gradually crawl over a 2mile stretch up to 25mph and remain at that speed with exemption to slowing down well in advance for green traffic lights, parked cars, built up regions, hills and pot holes.
So by the time they get to the shops it'll be about 11.30am, which explains why the post office lines are generally grey and nearly out the door.

I think lots of older people don't sleep well so are up at 6am most days, clearly they can not just watch tv all day so they go shopping and do the garden when everyone else is still asleep.

I find that I'm frequently awake at five and raring to go.
I have plenty to do from time to time and the supermarket is less crowded so I can get in and out. By the time this is done the traffic is going in the reverse direction to me. I think that answers your question

I am old in your eyes, but why do not you ask everyone. I tend to shop in the afternoon. My answer could be some number of things l. Habit 2. Cooking or baking that day 3. Not knowing better. you're right I also think it is not a good time to go, but, maybe too, it is an emergency.

just think one day that will be you. they most likely like to get to the store when it opens. a lot of them had to get up early to go to work so now they still get up early and go shopping

So they can get their shopping done early, go home early and have more time to use up at home afterward on. There are chores to do too. Remember the great kids, the lawn, the ... so many things to do while motorrobin is racing the rat race.

I don’t mind old people, I just don’t like the oaps that drive under the speed limits for no reason and start slamming their brakes on when they see plastic bags floating across the road.
