Other than a common joint, what else could "whistle" under my '99 Subaru Outback?

It may be the brakes or I have seen inner wheel bearing seals get dry and because whistle sound. There can be a stick or road debris stuck underneath and is rubbing on the axle. If it only happens when you're moving then it wont be a vacumn line and if it's there when you aren't moving then it wont be brakes or seals,maybe a belt sound.

Exhaust, Exhaust heat shield vibrating, TURBO bearings going out if its turbo differential gears. Intake sound that sounds like it is under your subbee

Most probably you have a loose vacuum line someplace,look for hoses that are not hooked up under the hood,or you may be able to just let the car run while you listen to the whistle and track the hose down that way. hope this helped.
