Poor reception on stock radio?

Postby Jankomarko » Thu Aug 23, 2007 6:34 pm

I have a 2002 Yukon. some weeks ago, I got a jumpstart from a man that managed to put the cables on backwards I think . Everything is OK except my radio. I can only tune into some stations while the engine is running. I do not get the whinining sound that changes with engine RPM, I just get lots of static and my scan function can not find a station. With the engine off, the radio works good. I have tried just living with the problem, but I am tired of coasting down hills so I can hear my favorite song. :

I assume I have blown a filter of some kind, but I don’t have idea where to look.

Check that the antenna cable in the back of the radio and in the external connection is properly attached. Also check the ground connections it may seen that the alternator or battery ground wire is damage due to bakwards connection.
