993 is the last of the air cooled models.
Great form.
Can't blame you about the 996 nothing cool about it. which is why they came back with the 997 and the smiley face.

I do not know your budget but if you may be able to go new do so. They have made quite some advances making it useful.

If you're a tiptronic person then again the newer model. The last tiptronic 993 was in 1998 and was only a four speed. The five speed really, really makes a difference.

Good luck.

I'd be tempted to look at the Cayman, then have a look at the tuning packages on offer from RUF. they are Porsche accepted and can push the cayman into, and beyond, 997 rate.

I could say that you may want to go with the 993 because they're older and harder to find. afterward in life they'll be worth lots of money,

The 996 bodystyle was and still is Porsche's best selling 911. All those purchasers could not be wrong. The most of them were last 993 Porsche owner's upgrading their model. The 996 obviously outsold the 993 style by a big margin. When considering looks & style. The 996 resembles the 997 a lot more than the 993. Many people on the street will not be able to readily tell between the 996 or 997, but 993 obviously dates itself as being an older model. Porche is one of the not many manufacture's that only makes changes to their models as big engineering developments become available. The 993 though a nice porsche wasn't as dependable, specially with the late model 996's. If saving some bucks isn't a concern then go with the 997.

The 993 is becoming worth more than the equivelent 996. Plus I like the look of the round light 993 to the 996.
