put a bunch of stickers on it and cut the springs to lower it. then put a giant wing on the back and intake and exhaust. youll be running 11s in no time yo. Seriously, your car barely makes over 100hp. do you seriously think intake exhaust, chip etc is going to help it to 150hp? its a lost because. use it to get from a to b in unmolested grace. if you need speed a civic isn't going to cut it.

depends on how much money you must use up. you may be able to cheaply change the exhaust and add an intake or you may be able to go all out and exchange the engine and throw a turbo in the new engine

Depending on your budget, you can add aa aftermarket Turbocharger, Reprogramme the ECU, Add a free flow exhaust & good tune the engine. But get it done from a professional, lest you are engine blows away. After the conversion you are car will fly like a rocket.

I think it'd be kinda cool to put a V eight into one o them small cars, put a small block 350 in it, then that thing'll move.

let me tell you, Honda civic's are not the best car to make faster. unless your gonna keep this car for a LONG time. the chances of you keeping it are low. I propose waiting and purchase a car that you could invest in. be sure it has the power you want and have some upgrades that you may screw on. like a civic Si. they are fast and you may be able to do a lot to them. and they're pretty cheap.kinda. look into it, then make up your mind. and as well, what could happen if your 95' civic breaks down? after all you have done to it. it would not be worth it. at least with a new car, you have a warranty. think about it.

replace air filter, fuel filter, fuel pump, upgrade spark plugs, and lower your car to the ground

go to the junkyard, purchase a SB 350 for like $250, rebuild it to the stock specifications if that is all the money you have, then that little buzz buzz will be a vroom vroom.

You're gonna have to exchange your old head w/a SOHC VTEC head, it will add another 30 40hp. W/the addition of a VTEC head, it adds a better cam & it also raises the compression in the engine. but, be sure your seals are good & there aren't leaks. This is the simplest, cheapest way to add a bit more HP w/o a complete engine exchange, although I really do recomend a exchange. Any b series Honda motor can exchange easily into your Civic, btw they're all DOHC. The D16z6 & the D16y8 all have VTEC w/hp around 130, which is a important increase from where you're now. These will do a direct exchange into your car also. Btw, a direct exchange means not having to worry about changing out your mounts.

Re chipping & adding a free flow exhaust & new spark plugs are not going to increase hp. The exhaust may by about 10hp, but the DX engine is only a 98hp engine, so ten extra hp is not going to make much difference.

Good luck.

for a small car like that. I could exchange out your old engine and put a b16 engine on it. put some work on the engine..put aftermarket parts. headers, full racing exhaust, intake with a big bore intake manifold, turbo intercooler, cam gears, iridium spark plugs upgrade the electrical system so that you may have more spark for your ignition, NOS for more instant power when you need it, racing ecu you have to get it programmed by a good tuning professional, good suspension, brakes and wheels and tires. all good. but . no stickers, no big spoiler if you put one. you will appear like a f ckin shoppin cart in steriods make it clean. and also make your car light as possible... no big boxes in the back for subwoofers. if your planning on put a system. make it minimal as possible.. so that it'll not eat your weight of you car..

What is fast to you? To make a car go one sec faster in increase, you have to think about spending $5K/second. Since, your car's stock performance is like eleven seconds zero 60MPH, expect to use up $25K for six second zero 60MPH / high 14 QM car.

But who in the right mind could use up this much to get so little? This choice is right for you if you have to have a Honda Civic DX and money isn't a question. For me? I could trade it in for a used CRX Si and just use up minimum $500 1K in tuning. This choice will give you a helluva better performance car and thrill that you're seeking for less ache in the pocket.

Honda Civic DX 1995 HOW DO I MAKE IT FASTER?

Postby CARpenter » Sun Sep 16, 2007 11:24 am

got this off honda tech:

PS: I use up about 4k doing a B20 exchange, and another 4k turbo, running at about 250WHP, think about it

B16
These may be found in the JDM SIR and SIRII among other JDM cars, which I do not assert to know all of which it came in also as the USDM 99 00 SI EM1 and the 99 00 Canadian SIR.

Pros
160 hp stock
High RPM power
Fairly inexpensive
Good transmission
DOHC VTEC

Cons
113ft/lbs torque bit more than a D16z6 stock
Without knowing what you are looking for you may be able to end up with a high mileage JDM model
Under 4k or so it feels just like a D16

B18B
This is the motor in the non Type R and non GSR Integra.

Pros
Good torque for a 1.8L 127 ft/lbs
Inexpensive cheaper than a B16
142 hp more than any stock D series
Boost heads love them

Cons
No VTEC
Longest B series transmission

B18C1 or JDM B18C
These come out of an Integra GSR.

Pros
Good Hp and TQ numbers 170, 121 ft/lbs in that order
DOHC VTEC
Tons of potential
High revving

Cons
Expensive
Becoming moreso as people keep scooping them up
Slighty longer tranny than the ITR and B16

B18C5 or JDM B18C
This is found in the Integra Type R. IMHO this is the best exchange for a Civic.

Pros
GREAT HP and TQ numbers 195 and 134 ft/lbs
High revving
Hand built motor from Honda
Optional factory LSD
Best transmission for a B series from the factory
Red valve cover

Cons
EXPENSIVE
If JDM ITR can be used, the 36mm axle 32mm hub problems occur

B16B
This is the motor found in the Civic Type R found all over the world.

Pros
185 hp 117 ft/lbs
High revving
Good top end power
Red valve cover

Cons
Expensive nearly as much as an ITR for lower performance
Very little torque still, have to rev the motor to make power

B20

Pros
Great torque 133 ft/lbs
good increase motors
inexpensive
B20z=146hp

Cons
Thin cylinder walls
Have to peice together a exchange for a Civic can not drop it in with a B20 tranny
Won't pass BAR light truck motor in a car
Low hp in the B20b 126 hp

H22/JDM F20B

Pros
200 hp
H22=156 ft/lbs torque
F20B=145 ft/lbs torque
Great torque
DONT WEIGH THAT more THAN A B exchange..
honda tech.com/zerothread?id=684550honda tech.com/zerothread?id=684550">honda tech.com/zerothread?id=6845.

Cons
Harder to install than a B/D motor
transmission feel is indistinct IMHO
Less information out there for the exchange aka, less experience as they're less common
Price of exchange is comperable to a B18C5 after everything is said and done mounts, etc

K20
This may be found in the new EP3, the RSX base and Type S also as other cars across the world RSX R, etc, and this is the future of the exchange IMHO. there's a writeup on installing one of these in one issue of Sport Compact Car magazine June 2004 I think

Pros
200 hp 158 ft/lbs torque RSX R
I VTEC
Respond well to screw ons
6 speed transmission
Most have low miles

Cons
Still super expensive
More hard exchange than a B or D
