DMG was Daimler's parent company back in 1910. Daimler made the 1st interior combustion car. DMG made complete engines for three sectors: cars, boats and airplanes. Each star represents one of those sectors.

There's another story that says that Daimler sent a card to his wife with a three point star on it saying that that star is what will shine over his factories. I am inclined to believe the 1st story.

I have heard that Mercedes and Bmw used to make plane engines back in world war 2. The three point star emblem symbol somewhat same as the bmw sign symbolizes the propellers of the plane.

Mercedes used to build engines for aircraft and boats, following the buy of Maybach who made engines for trains/boats/aircraft in the 1960's the air and sea division became MTU.

MTU was sold earlier this year

Time to go to work, time to go to lunch, time to go home.
like other people said it's land, sea, air plus the circle stands for the world.
