I have two mtx 9500 subs and the mtx thunderform 1501d amp, I took my g35x to my friend who said he could install it for me but he said he could not because it had a bose system. I have a factory head unit and I wondered if I had to change the head unit so I could hook up the subs.

I could have to know what kind of car you have.. but no you do not have to change out the head unit.. my wife has a Monte Carlo with the Bose system. I used a high to low converter, but with this system, the louder you turn up the radio, the reduce the bass gets.. it could be best to change out the head unit for one with sub control..
