I think it will fall by the wayside. Hybrids seem like a fad. Financially they do not seem right, the battery packs mean these cars aren't the environmental saviors people make them out to be, and the big amount of computerization can not be overly dependable or cheap to fix. Their ONLY tangible benefit is that they do help our reliance on foreign oil, but then I think diesel vehicles are a better choice. Hard wearing, low revving, torquey, economical, and using advanced technologies from Europe, Diesels today aren't lagging behind gassers in any area I can think of.
