Have others had serious difficulty with the Mazda RX8 ?

Mazda typically makes a good car, but the 2004 RX8 must be a lemon. Mine was in the shop 15 times and Mazda has agreed to purchase it back.

Im a Japanese and live there.

Yes, RX8 was so inmatured at the 1st. it had lots of problem with the quality in the past.
When did you purchase RX8? I think it has not many problem now, it was changed lots. The engine computing problem and suspension arm problem were remaining. particularly susupension arm was serious one.
Mazda is really good car for its handling but usually Mazda quality isn't good as a Japanese maker with its initial problem of quality.

If you want Mazda, you may want to wait till second variant of
semi model change. if you really like RX8, its good time to purchase the new model now. Miata is too early now.

The Mazda RX8 is a great sports car. I think Mazda did not think about the everyday commute when they intended the RX. that's why it suffers from dependability issues. it's a great weekend car. Not an everyday car. Hopefuly they'll make them more dependable soon. The engine and transmission I think are great. But the electronics aren't. Other than it being unreliable, it's a fun car to drive. The six speed shifter, the rotating engine, the perfect weight distribution and the space for four passengers. it's a great sports car as I said before, but unfortunately suffers from dependability.

I bought Mazda RX8 in 2006 and it's running well without any problem. I think they fixed the problem after receiving many complains. you may be able to see new 2006 model RX8 here batfa.com/new_car_mazda_rx8.htmbatfa.com/new_car_mazda_rx8.htm">batfa.com/new_car_mazda_rx8.h.

Almost every new production car 2003+ 350z, RX8, etc will have issues particularly the earlier models. I am aware of many recalls and ecu reflashing to fix many of the "new car blues."

It's nearly normal so do not be too worried. If Mazda decided to purchase your car back then it is not a general problem. You just happened to purchase a lemon. I am sorry about this as many RX8 holders are happy with their cars.
