I have found that majority Subarus have a alike in general feel. by power, they both could supply alike performance. The Impreza may have a slight edge in acceleration and fuel economy, since it is lighter. The Impreza's increasing sales are probably because of its fuel efficiency relative to the rest of the Subaru range. but, the Legacy is bigger and more refined and could probably feel more "smooth". they are both fast enough, particularly with the manual transmission, but neither delivers tire burning acceleration look to the turbo models for that .
Both are good cars and it really comes down to personal preference and needs. Both are very hard and safe, with above average dependability. The Legacy has prettier outside and a beautiful interior. The Impreza's interior, while notably better than the last model, is not as upscale. The Impreza five door could be more practical for cargo hauling than a Legacy sedan. The Impreza is a more recent design, incorporating some changes since the Legacy was presented in 2005 like framed windows .
I could take the Impreza if I looked for a practical compact car with great bang for the buck and could take the Legacy if I looked for a refined family car. Unless I hauled lots of cargo, I could take either over the Outback for their better handling and fuel economy. but, my personal preference available in Canada could be the regular Legacy wagon 2.5i.
