2.5 mentions the size of the engine, 2.5 liters. GT stands for Gran Turismo, or great Touring. This used to mean that the car was fit for touring all over the country as a fast and comfy car, able of taking you and your stuff anywhere on land you wanted to go. These days it just means they added some hp and a spoiler.

Mike B stole my name, and my answer. really I think he's extreamly close, but a bit off. GT amount stand for Gran Turismo, or great Touring, but the term Gran Turismo really came from a racing searies in Italy. Car makers could make a GT variant of their car to partake in the racing series. So it became related with higher performance. These days makers just slap it and a spoiler on a car to attempt and sell some more, just like the other MikeB said.
