based on the altitude you'll loose a great deal of power. A turbo diesel will do much better, and loose little power with altitude.
We had an experience in Colorado east bound on I 70. In western CO about 5000 feet, we maked 80mph 75mph speed bound with no problem with our gasser, passed a fifth wheel rig with six horses on board pulled by a turbo diesel pickup he runned about 75mph. A 100 miles east, around 8000 feet, with steeper grades we are down to 60mph flat out, he passes us, still going 75 mph, with no strain or black smoke never saw him again. By the time we got to the Eisenhower tunnel "It is the highest vehicular tunnel in the world, located at an elevation of 11,013 feet at the East Portal and 11,158 feet at the West Portal." we were down to 55mph flat out.
