Where is the fuel filter located on a 2004 chevy tahoe 5.3 V8?

look along the inside frame rail on the drivers side.

Most probably in the fuel tank. may be on the frame rail if you're lucky. Good luck.

Under the car, near the fuel tank, just ahead of the differential housing. based on the car, it may be on either side.
