Daughter needs a substitute ignition key for her 2002 RS X. there's no dealer near here. Where can she go?
I suggested maybe a Honda dealer? Any ideas?

honda makes acura, so go there. don't go online to get substitute keys. these keys will unlock a car door, but won't start the car. they're missing the electronic chip in the key to begin the car. you're wasting your money.

Is it possible to order one online or does it must be set for her car?

a good locksmith can cut her a new key. I had to do this after my only car key was stolen.

yeah, sounds like you may have to see a dealer
sometimes a good mechanic has ignitions and keys though
if the car s a honda, then go to a honda dealer

A locksmith and if it has a chip in the key be sure you have evidence of ownership.

I guess only dealer can do keys because a locksmith one not generally work but she can go and order online or a least ask for more info about it. The difficulty part is because there's no dealers otherwise she'll go and supply her registration and ID. But attempt order online. Good luck.

What do you mean by substitute ignition key? if you're talking about the key it self. you're going to have to drive to a dealer, they're the only ones who can do that and reprogram the cars ecu imobolizer chip aswell as the keys.
If its because she lost a key then that is the only way about it. the door locks may be done by any locksmith but not the ignition.
As far as parts you may be able to attempt honda eStore estore.honda.com/asp/logon.asp?bhcp=1&bhsw=1024&bhiw=1024 estore.honda.com/asp/logon.asp?bhcp=1&bhsw=1024&bhiw=1024 ">estore.honda.com/asp/logon.asp?bh. you're going to be able to pick up all the hardware your self through them and have it delivered to you but any programming is going to have to be done by them, you may be able to attempt to contact a honda dealer, but on occasion that dosent work.
they don't know what kind of oil filter the RSX uses.its just the same for each car now besides the s2k.idiots. Their computer wont tell you anything about the parts you need.

the key most probably has a transponder implanted in it. you must take it to a dealer to program it to the car. call honda before you make a trip. does acura still offer roadside help for a 2002 model? if they could tow it to a dealer regardless how far for little or no cost.

You will have to find a dealer. Honda dealers can cut a key they'll have to order it if you want it to say acura on it. the key has a transponder chip in it and the dealer will have to have the car to program the key car must be connected to a computer.

Call a locksmith and be sure you tell him your key has a transponder chip inside. Some locksmiths can make the key and program the chip. although Honda and Acura are under the same ownership, you can not go to Honda to get an Acura key made and programmed.
Good luck.

i don't know about a honda dealer but it's worth a attempt. if not they can guide you in the right direction. as well, if you call an acura dealer and fax them the information the need with the holders ID, a utility bill with the same address as on the registration, and some information on the bank loan, you may be able to get one mailed to you.
a locksmith will also work but cost a lot more. depends on how desperate you're for the key.

IF she's LOST ALL KEYS:for one, you must bring it to a dealer.HAVE TO. The key has an imobilizer chip in it, only a dealer can make you a key that works. Two, it has to go to an Acura dealer because Honda's keys contain different chips. A locksmith can not cut you a key that start the car, only one that gets you in the door due to chip unfortunatly that is the only way it may be done. There will be a fee for labor also because the car will must be towed to the dealer so it may be hooked up to a computer and have the chip code transfered to the new key.
IF ALL SHE NEEDS IS A SPARE: she will still have to go to the dealer because the code will must be transfered. she will need the proper identification.
