Eclipse GS?

I do not know what RobR is talkin about with the body kit kickin at 95.. But I do know about engine trades on Eclipses. If I were you I could go with a six screw configuration, caused by the seven bolts that where in the 95 99 eclipses can suffer from crankwalk. you may want to be able to pick up a six screw block for little or nothing. If not you may be able to generally purchase a six screw JDM engine for like 1200 or less. Theres some things that must be done with this exchange. you may want to read Road Race Engineering step through guide to do this exchange. Also get another transmission get one off a GST, do not use your GS. if it did line good it could have different gear ratios, and couldn't withstand the power of a turbo motor. GS 140hp, GST 210hp stock. not many minor mods and you may be able to have them puttin out way more than that. Check dsmtuner.com for the forums and classified sections. as well, vfaq.com has about any modification done to an eclipse with guides and pictures. that is about it, I wouldnt listen to these clowns about body kits kickin and makin you go faster. My eclipse has the stock kit and I can do 120 up hill..

It should accept the engine. The transmissions should also exchange okay, if that is what you have in mind. You may possibly have to make some minor modifications, but nothing big at all.

Congratulations, by the way. The Eclipse is a great car . gets remaining mileage . is a ball to drive . and will last you quite awhile.

I've had my '93 GS up to a sustained 120 mph and it was great. The "ground effects" kick in at about 95 mph and really tuck it down to the road. It also gave me 30 33 mpg on that trip.

By the way, unless there is something wrong with your present engine . I would not annoy. Save you bucks to upgrade to a newer Eclipse down the road.

Like Rob R clarified, it may be done easily. The GS and GS T both run on the same front wheel drive transmission and the engine should fit without any problems. I recently had a 1997 GS but I has been involved in an accident, not my fault, and had to decide between a GS T or a GSX. I found the perfect GSX for me but it cost a bunch more, and with the amount of money I spent on it, I could of gotten a GS T with over 500bhp. Good luck man.
