The airconditioner of my hyundia accent is smelly. Is there a home remedy for it?
when the AC isn't ON it starts giving out a foul smell

yes there's something you may be able to do go to your local a/c centre and ask them to spray some a/c deoderiser into the intake vents it kills all bacteria and weird oudors. you may have something dead in the ducting in that case they'll have to strip out the evaporator which is situated behind the glove box under the dashboard that will involve some cost

It's most likely not venting outside, but behind to your car. I'd get it checked

Your drain may be plugged to your evaporator. you may be able to turn the fan speed on high and spray Lysol at the air intake. it is typically on the passenger side by the windshield wipers. That should kill whatever is "growing" there.

yeah a sickening sweet smell right? I have the same problem. I thought for a moment that it was just something caught in the vent. recently I have been using the AC a lot and haven't smelled anything so I wonder if it is just a new car thing going on and you just have to continue using till it subsides. I notice the smell although when I use the regular Air Conditioner but when you turn the handle all the way to AC although and use that you do not really smell it anymore.

first makesure your drain is unpluged so the a/c will drain properly then turn a/c on set to new air turn blower on low then get some lysol spray and spray it it to the new air vent should be on pass side by the wipers spray it then shut veh off let it sit for a while then start it with blower on low then ck for the smell again if it still there attempt spaying it again it's moisture build up causeing mold and meldew to build up on evap the lysol will assist kill it
