Installing an air conditioner in an RV with a hole cut in floor for venting?
I have a small travel trailer and the only place to realistically install a small a/c unit is tucked under a sofa area, but I do not want to cut a hole in the side, but possibly the bottom of the RV for venting. How could this best be vented for correct functioning and condensation, am I supposed to use help fans? thanks much

it's to go into a small 13' boler fiberglass trailer, you must be creative to fit things in

Build an aluminum drain pan to fit under it, and plumb it for a fitting on the bottom, 1/2" could do. Mount the a/c unit 4" away from the wall, and make a box to cover the top and sides, between the unit and the wall. Cut an opening in the floor, as close to the size of the a/c unit as possible width wise, and as close as possible to the area between the unit and the wall. just this will let the airflow from the condenser fan to come out of the back and escape down under the r/v. The drip pan will catch condensation, and let it drain through the fitting to the outside. help fans should not be needed, unless the opening can not be made big enough. If you do need help fans, be sure the a/c unit is tilted and the drain located well away from the fans. The operation of the unit will tell you if the fans are needed.
It could probably work much better if you do cut a hole in side, and make a grate from extended metal, with a filter installed. This could give the look of a factory installation, and decrease sound, both inside and out.
And good luck.

hi
Do not mount the ac unit under the floor it'll bee hard to do and you'll make the whole floor un stable. id do it on roof or back end of trailer

I'm not sure how you're thinking of installing the unit in a near level position through a hole in the floor. usually room A/C need the back 3/4 of the unit on the outside & the left over part inside. The only RV A/C I have seen mounts on the roof & I do not think it could work upside down.

why can not you install I on the roof???.or in a window.but cutting a whole in the floor sounds a little iffy.
