Getting my car window up.?

Postby Clovers » Sun Aug 26, 2007 8:10 am

the motor on my electric car window looks to have burnt out. I am not worried now about fixing the motor I just want the window up. I have the door panel off, but I do not have the strength to push the window to move. Is there an easier and free way I can push the window up?

Whoa, all you must do is have someone turn on the key and push the switch to shut it while you hit the motor once with a rubber hammer. It works every time.

You did not have to take off the panel either, next time just bang the inner panel near the motor and up or down it goes. You may want to unplug the motor while the panel is still off or you'll accidentally lower it again.

Unhook the track push the window up, and put a door stop wedge in there to hold it.

the window won't go up because the window regulator is attached to the siezed window motor.

you can either remove the motor then lift the window. but then it can fall if you don't reinstall the motor.

I propose you find the motor it'll have a two wire connector on it.

plug the window switch in with the door panel off.

knock on the motor with a metal object something pretty heavy while holding the switch to go up. be sure the key is on in the ignition while trying this.

did you check to see if the window motor was to get power? this may be also caused by a switch.

you can email me with any other questions

If you may be able to see the motor, simply unbolt it from the regulator and that will free the glass up. increase the glass by hand, and place a wood block inside to hold it up. But 1st, attempt having someone hold the switch in the up position, while you take a hammer and tap on the motor. on occasion this will get it up in an emergency. If you can not get two the motor, unattach the glass from the regulator and use the block.

you will have to take the bolts out that hold the glass to the regulator, then just take the glass and pull it up and you'll have to block it up with a part of wood that will fit underneath the glass and brace against the bottom of the door to hold the glass up till you may be able to get the motor replaced.
