How do you disable the immobilzer for a 200 Volkswagen Passa

Postby Remims » Tue Nov 03, 2009 1:13 am

I have a 2000 Volkswagen Passat that I recently had a second key programmed for. it'll unlock/lock the car and will really start the car but the car will now shut itself down due the the key not being recognized by the immobilizer. Is there any way to turn the immobilizer off or to get the immobilizer to recognize this key. The man who programmed it was suggested by the local Volkswagen dealer and we paid $45 to get it done and it still doesn',t work.

You can not disable the immobilizer if it's a vallet key, there's really a technique that's portrayed in your manual to program a vallet yourself

It should work. They can',t program a key without the immobilizer recognizing the new one. That',s quite bad buyer service I believe. Ask them about it over the phone because you could have to take it back otherwise it',s not going to work.
