What is the W button for? We have an XC90 and a V50 and they both have it and when I asked someone recently at Volvo what was the function of it they looked at me like I was crazy. I looked quickly in the book but didn',t find an explanation.
Yes, I'm sure the manual explains it so don',t say look it up in the manual.

the W button is for Wet or slippery conditions, if you have the transmission in Drive and press the W button, it starts the car in third gear, which has less torque than first or 2nd. make sure to release the W button once you're moving.
