well 3.1L V6 normaly gives lesser mileage..the way that ui cheak the milege is a bit diff I think so..mileage checking goes like this
Fill up the tank
This is most likely the most evident step, but that is also why its the 1st step. Fill up your tank.
Reset the trip odometer
If you car has a trip odometer, go ahead and set it to zero. If your car doesnt have the choice, then just write down your current mileage on a part of paper that you may keep in the car.
Drive till you have to fill up again
You don't have to drive till your tank is on empty. Just drive till its time for you to gas up again.
Fill up the tank again
So far weve most likely followed your normal routine, only I put in the step to reset your odometer.
Write down the amount of gas you put in your tank
Dont throw your receipt away just still. Take note of how many gallons you just put in your tank.
Make the calculation
You now have enough data to compute your miles per gallon. Remember that this number is just a percentage. that is why you don't have to till you are on empty to checking your gas mileage. To get the calculation, just take the number of miles on your trip odometer and divide that by the amount of gas you just put in your tank. That will give you your current miles per gallon
Miles/Gallons Miles per gallon.
Milege tips:
Step
1 This is the most important to get good gas mileage on your car. you have to perform oil changes every 3000, 4000, or 5000 miles based on the era of the car and what kind of oil you used. The newer the car the better the engine, so newer cars tend to need a oil change every 5000 miles.
Step
2Make sure your tire pressure is good. The higher the pressure the more gas mileage you get but it's important not to put the pressure up too high or you'll ware away the center of your tire. The reduce the pressure the worse mileage you get, this because a drag on the car making the car work harder and making you apply more acceleration.
Step
3When driving, press on the gas gradually for the car to build up speed instead of pressing down to make the car go faster quicker, this really burn more gas. When going down hill let go of the gas let gravity move your car for you.
