Dependability will differ based on the engine size and if it's pre owned, it'll rely on how the last owner maintained the car.
Check out consumerreports.com for some dependability information on it. Then you may also check out motortrend.com, caranddriver.com and kbb.com.
Jeeps usually are pretty reliable, usually. Since it's a 06, it'll have the six yr/60000 or 7/70000 mile powertrain warranty on it. I forget which one 06 has . The warranty has a $100 deductible for each fix needed under it.

But, you may want to think about going brand new, you may be amazed at how close the payments are. Best of luck.

Look under the rear of that new Jeep great Cherokee..You will see a straight truck axle.wich in turn makes it ride like a truck. purchase a Nissan Pathfinder and get independant rear suspension and enjoy the ride. Besides the Jeep dosent have 277 hp either.

Jeeps like any other car may be abused or taken care of throughout it is life span. I own 14 Jeeps, the oldest is a 58' and still in awesome condition. A 2006' has no recall things I am aware of and as long as it has it is service records you may want to be good to go. Take it your Jeep dealer for a check up before buyin it although. they're tuff, powerfull, smooth and comfy plus they're Trail Rated . NO other company rates their vehicles for trail use. I think they're afraid personally.
