Should I purchase a Dodge 1500?

Postby Gerdass » Thu Sep 06, 2007 6:50 pm

This man wants me to purchase his dodge 1500. it is a 2001, it has 67000 miles on it. I looked at the engine, it is in good form, it drives well, there is not a oz of rust on the truck. It has the V six 3.9L engine in it. He wants 6,000 dollars for it. Is this a good buy? I looked at the Kelly blue book value, it is at 6250.

dodge rams are good trucks but I personally would not pay that much for a v6. you kinda have to think about that the trannys in these truck are weaker then the ones fords or Chevy's. from94 to 2002 dodge had tranny problems. not all trucks went out mine is a good running truck. I service it well and it gives me no problems. strong as ever. I put lots of aftermarket things on it and it hauls . lots of power. but I have the 5.9

I'd say that is a pretty great deal. If everything looks to be in working order and the milage hasn't been tampered with, i'd go for it. But just remember the gas prices., generally think about a carfax report but.

sounds good, just bear in mind that the v6 will be the limiting factor in what ya can do with it.if ya just want a full size for the sporadic hauling/towing duties, the v6 should be enough,as long as it isn't too big.light stuff like mulch may be hauled daily on the v6 half ton. although its best use is as a daily driver.if everything looks good with it,take it to a reliable mechanic of your, a dealers mechanic can be set up to say its ok when it isn't if they are really isn't a big issue with it,the seller wont mind ya taking it to a shop for an inspection. if everything gets the greeen light go ahead an get it
