My 2001 dodge neon sounds like it has a baring going bad on the front passenger side. It make a clunking sound when I hit about 40 miles per hour. How much could a baring caust and what else may be the prolbem??

baring= BEARING ????

Could be a bearing, may be a cv joint Constant Velocity

A shop can replace the complete axle for 200 or less. The bearing if it's flawed may cost more lot more work involved and an alignment when done.

Take it in to get ot checked before something breaks and you have a wreck or get stranded. Both real possibilities.

Yep I agree, a clunking sound at around 40 mph is certainly a cv joint going bad. Pretty common fix. For a Neon it is most likely about $275 with parts and labor.

Im guessing a CV joint, and it kind of depends on where you take it to get it fixed. Dealerships are generally costly. Find a local mechanic that could do the work and you may save some $.

front pass side could sound more like a bad CV joint.
while driving in a parking lot make low speed hard turns and check for sound sound in the turn will be the CV joint . also attempt checking the boots on the axle to see if they are cut or torn.
