Power window stuck down in a 2000 BMW X5? |
|
The power window is stuck in the down position in the driver's side door. When you push the switch, it'll go up and down about half an inch. It does not sound like anythings stripped. When you puch the power window button, it sounds no different than common, it just will not come up or down more than half an inch. What could this be?

disregard these people. the x5 uses a wire type regulator for window operation. there are problems with the plastic runner wheels on the regulators since they came out. you may want to put the window up as far as you may be able to get it, no more than 105mm so you may be able to acess the glass hold in tabs. then if you're energetic, take off your door panel like this: there are three major screws holding your door on, one top left corner under little cover, one under the bottom left carrier and one under the door handle, theses are #8/#10 head bolts after they are removed, use a plastic pry bar device and start from the bottom edge of the door panel, pry towards you to undo the plastic hold downs, move around the parimeter of the door panel and loosten the panel . at the top near the glass the panel is held on with metal clips, pull the panel to disengage them. softly pull the panel away from the door about three inches enough todisconnect the connectors from the light and bowden cable from the door handle pull at the base of the cable and misc connectors, CAUTION X5s have side airbags in the doors, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BEFORE ANY OF THIS WORK<,KEY OFFF.. afterwords, take off the door module three bolts, and youll be able to take off the insulation and reveil your regulator and window assy. your regulator is bound up somewhwere, unless your window started to get weak some days before this happened? motor also double check for any OBSTRuctions that may inhibit the window from going up. these motors have overheat protection, so they'll cut out if they draw too many amps. also you'll have to reinitialize your window afterwors, be sure the door is closed and hold the window switch completely closed window, hold till cc message has window pic. release and open window completely to lower stop, release and again hold switch in down pos. window should comfort open & close.

Have you tried the "switch" at the window also as the drivers side "switch"?
Have you tried to "Pull" the window up if the switches do not work?
If it is not the switch then it may be the motor or connector or the "gear" inside the door frame.
If you get in a adhere, pull off the inner door panel and "push" the window up till you may be able to get it fixed. eight
