I am thinking about to get an Acura. I heard there are transmission defects on 01 03 Acuras! The one I'm thinking of to get had its transmission "changed under the warranty" as indicated by the seller, its in "excellent condition" and had "95k"

I could still be a little cautious about purchasing that TL. though the tranny was changed, it may still be a rebuilt one, which doesn't ensure that it wont go bad. Another technique they used to remedy the problem was to install what is called a "jet kit" which gives more oil to the tranny I believe. That still sounds like a temporary solution to me.

as well, I believe they were given 100,000 mile warranty on those trannies from Honda/Acura with the substitute of the tranny. If that car has 95k, you only have about 5k miles under warranty. Once the warranty expires and that tranny dies, youre going to have to shell out at least two great to replace it.

Lastly, if youre going to replace it, Id only go with an aftermarket like Dr. bad transmission. Honda/Acura transmissions suck, which is totally unacceptable.

By the way, new Toyota V6s like the 07 Camry V6 and Lexus ES350 are having tranny issues. Something to watch out for and its not just Honda/Acura.

You shouldnt purchase an Acura because theyre not dependable. Instead, you may want to get either a Nissan or Toyota.

I own an 03 CL Type S and when I shopped around for it, I read reviews for weeks and talked to holders of 01 03 TLs and CLs. Great car all around, but many did have tranny issues many of which were warrantied. I cant personally tell you about the auto because I have the 6 speed manual and with 95K miles on my car I still love driving it daily. After test driving both a TL S and my car, I couldnt drive that auto if you paid me. Just my opinion because I love speed a bit more on my cars. Do homework on the tranny because the car itself is a winner!
