The tires on my Jeep now just have about had it, so I have to get them replaced with in the next not many months. By that time, it'll be just about prepared to start to snow. What tires handle the best for traction on snowy/icy roads that also won't because me to go broke? How much do they usually cost & how long will they last since using snow/winter tires all year round will because them to wear down quicker ?

Not knowing your road conditions [ are we talking mountain driving, sporadic snow, ice and snow, snow from Oct thru April it is hard top make a recommendation. Do you do lots of off road driving, or highway driving. Once you have these questioned answered, go to a big tire dealer that handles many lines of tires, they can make the best suggestions on what suits your style of driving. I have a Jeep Wrangler 4X4 that we use on the beach here on Cape Cod, but also for Highway driving, I have a Ford Explorer that we use in the Winter and go to the mountains of NH, in both cases I have Bridgestone Dueller A/T tires. The A/T stands for All Terrain, which means they do a great job under most conditions. Smooth highway driving, have never been let down by them. Good Luck

Sport Ute tires are going to be costly regardless which way you go. I have generally liked and reliable Michelin. Best traction and ride of any tire I owned. They have great wear durability too.

On our second set of Nokian Vatiiva tire on our Jeep GC. Great tires for all year use, and yes we live in a snow belt area. seems they have a new all season model out also.

Well we get about ten foot plus per winter snow season.

And I use a Invicta GS tire made by cooper.

Same thing the cops up here use, they're most likely one of the best winter tire on the market now.

Here where we measure snowfall in feet not inches snow tires are an complete must and you learn quickly what works and what does not. There are many excellent snow tires on the market but you have to choose how you will use them 1st. If you want a tire you may be able to run year around start with a set of BLIZZAKs in the late fall and replace them in a year. They have a different compound on the 1st half of the tire and bite like crazy in the snow then as they wear down the compound gets harder so the will get you through the summer months. Or if you do not mind changing tires every six months like I do, mount up a set of wintermasters and have them studded for the best traction. you must pull them off in April here so the studs do not damage the roads but I have them on spare rims which makes the change easier. I usually get two winters/40k miles per set. Price them locally but also check tirerack.com. A studded tire bites ice better but heavy sipping like the blizzak has is an excellent choice also. You can not go wrong with either choice. Good Luck.
