Speed cameras? How far can the camera see when you drive past them anybody know?
I drive past one every morning and wonder what the camera range is. No stupid answers thanks..

The camera takes two photo's one as you enter above the speed bound and the second an recognized time after UK town roads 30mph bound .5 of a second the white marks on the road are at a recognized distance separately so working out how fast you goed is is easy distance/time=speed the camera has a fixed view and focal length .. the distance between the 1st line and the last
this doesn't include the new system that records your number plate at one point and logs it at another two different camera's like those being used on the eternally road works of UK motorways the timing Principal is the same distance/time=speed

if you pass one and it flashes then it'll follow you along the stripes on the road and flash again about 50 yards I think but they have new ones on motorways that take your mean average speed over any distance they set so be aware when driving on motorways

The range is up to where the white lines in the road finish.

If you're speeding going past the camera it'll catch you, so it doesn't matter how far it can go, just be sure you don,t speed and you won,t get filmed
